The Organic Law is the highest legislation that regulates the structure of UNAM and its internal life. In accordance with the first article, “the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México” is a public corporation, a decentralized State agency, sanctioned with full legal powers, providing higher education to teach professionals, researchers, university teaching staff, and technicians who are useful to society; organizing and carrying out research, principally on national conditions and problems; and disseminating the benefits of culture as broadly as possible.”
