Ours is a large and grand university. Within its programs and walls capable and conscientious professionals are formed. Through the work of its faculty, knowledge is not only transmitted to new generations, but is created and applied towards solving the problems which trouble society. The University strives to transform the learning and work of scholars and students into community service, spreading of knowledge and new manners of cultural diffusion.
The University’s only commitment is to the society which spawned it and forged its destiny. For this reason we are concerned about the problems which afflict it. We know that poverty often goes hand in hand with ignorance, which is why we must fight against the latter. Education and culture are the ideal antidote. Knowledge and research contribute to the development of individuals and communities. For this reason they are part of our being and our mission.
This is an important time for the University. It is widely recognized, both home and abroad. It boasts a rich work environment with a true sense of community and it has reclaimed its pride in belonging. Quality has been improved and commitment has not diminished.
Throughout its history, the institution has played an important role in the cultural development of the country. The diffusion of culture is, and will continue to be, a responsibility of the university which must be a priority. This responsibility is relevant because it allows the institution to be an important point of reference in the preservation, recreation and transmission of both national and universal cultural manifestations, and also because it permits the creation of new cultural expressions. For this reason, actions will be taken to fortify the spreading of culture and the cultural transformation of the university students.
